Certainly not as much fun without a little higher stall, but you'll definately have some "seat of the pants" performance smiles.
Geeze there's like a whole forum that could be dedicated to choosing the right stall and axle ratio. So much to take into consideration.
You make a good point, with the 700R4 and 3.91 gears I cross the quarter mile at 6500 rpm and I may have to shift in overdrive in the future which will probably hurt my performance. (or I'll have to switch to solid roller lifters and have the torque converter locked up to avoid shifting in overdrive.)
Be careful about how you use your car before you choose your setup.

I like the "coverter lock" plan. Depending on what you need, it may work out, just right.
Congrats to you, your going to love the gear stall combo. I have a 93 red coup with 3200 vigilanti stall, 3.73gears, hooker shorty headers, corsa exh and its a hole new animal. Stock I ran 13.7 at 103 with 1.95 60' time. Havent been to the track with new mods butt talken with members of the forum, majority of them think Ill run low 13 maybe high 12s. I hope there wrong. Im shooting for mid 12's
Are you kidding me, with your mods, good air, & traction your an easy low 12 second car. Remember Mojo ran 12.50 @ 108 with only gears and converter.
thanks Chris, I thought the same regarding street tires> I am planning on going with the 3.54 gears in a dana 36 but have no plans to race it just want the extra pedal for fun every now and than

One other thing make sure you install Precision Gears not Richmond. The Richmond gears are very loud.
I've researched this for 2 years. On Tuesday when the converter is installed I will know if my research has paid off.
You may want to pick up a TransGo shift kit and have it installed the same time as your converter. After I did the 2800 Vig, my stock shifts were extremely soft.
how hard is the gear change?
I mean Ill get the diff seperate and have to change from stock 3.07s to 3.73s
for back yard first timer how much time?
It is not hard just labor intensive. My car was down almost 2 days. If you do not have tools to set up the gears then I would pull the third member and let a drivetrain shop do the gear change. Also take your driveshaft & halfshafts and have them install new ujoints.

Thanks for the tip, I was afraid of that. I'll install a shift kit and a tranny cooler when I get it back from the tranny shop. They are to busy for those mods.
this will be hard seeing I dont have a lift and just ramps and jacks!
I may be able to borrow a lift. Im getting a new drive shaft and c beam with the new diff so I can take the diff and gears to a place to do the swap!
how much do you think just to swap the gears out and put new u joints in if everything is alreay out of the car?

$600-$700 if they supply the gears and you need new bearings and ujoints.
