Default Question about pulleys, AC delete, smog delete

I want to remove the air conditioning from my car to add some more power and I need to know how you guys have done this. I already have a dummy pulley for the air pump and another dummy pulley for the AC would be too much. I want a new setup so that I only have a carnk pulley, water pump, power steering, and alternator pulley. I called March Performance pulleys because I just wanted to get the standard SBC pulley kit, they said it won't work because it will interfere with the suspension. I don't understand how it can get in the way because there is plenty of clearance that I can see.
I know some of you guys have gotten rid of the air conditioning, how did you guys do it?
Any suggestions or comments as to why the standard sbc pulley setup won't work? Please help!
(by the way this not a LT1 so there aren't any reverse flow issues)

I removed it on my 85 with the 1LE A/C Delete pully off an F-body. I think some other people said you could just reroute the belt and use a shorter one.

On my 89 I did this:

It can be done, the belt makes plenty of contact with the water pump pulley to spin it with no problem.

I did not have enough time to eliminate the dummy smog pump pulley
(this was like a day before a west coast corvette challenge event and had to have the car solid for the trip and race)

I will be figuring out the belt situation in the near future. I think I have to switch out the water pump for a reverse flow one.

Does anyone know why the March setup wouldn't work exactly?

Thanks for the pics, that looks like a good idea but I want to get rid of the dummy pulley and my goal is to move the alternator to the other side in place of the air conditioner compressor.
Are you sure the water pump flows enough? How do you adjust the tension on the belt?
Anyone else have any ideas?

The water pump is reverse. It will not work properly unless spun the correct way IMO.

Sorry, I was in a hurry and didn't explain myself very well.
I am wanting to route the belt over the water pump pulley(would make it spin backward), eliminate the dummy smog pulley, around the alt, and over the power steering.
I too want to move the alt over to the passenger side.
I currently adjust tension with a the top alt bracket. It is slotted. Like the old days.

Would it work if you simply moved the alternator to the passenger side, keep the power steering where it is and also leave the belt so that it rubs uderneath the water pump pulley so it flows the right direction? If you put the belt around the water pump pulley wouldn't it be flowing the wrong way?
