I have a '95 coupe six speed. At what temperature should my engine oil and my coolant be to be considered safe? In a particularly long drive through wait (burgers), the digital readout said my oil was at 238 degrees and my coolant was at 225 degrees.... Are these safe temps?

Those are normal operating temps. I have seen temps around 240-245 before. At the time it did scare me so I installed a 160* stat. After further discussion with CFI-EFI... I will be removing it later this winter. These cars were made to run hot for emissions and efficiency.

Yep, that's what my '95 use to run at. I didn't like seeing my analog gauge almost full scale so I reprogrammed my PCM to turn the fans on sooner. A 160* T-stat won't help drop the temperature while you're idling. Airflow through the rad is the only thing that will cool it.
on my stock crossfire,i've gotten to the point of "im freakin' out!". i drove to the track 2 1/2 hours away to get there in the heat going up a grade, temps approched 252 and oil was at 240ish.my friend and i are like,"holy ****!" went down after the grade and sayed at 225 the rest of the way there.i then changed to the MidAmericaMW 200fs which IMHO was good choice.but the car runs so efficent for 21 year old technology,i'd say a LSX/LTX car should be able to handle it without problems.btw i didnt' pull over but to stop for gas.i didnt' let it cool down after i saw that 250f temp.
