Default Torque converters

Do they help you all through out the speeds or do they just give you a better launch? i have a 96 a4 with the 3.07 gears, are they worth putting money into or should i concentrate on other mods?

They only help with the launch. If you are into drag racing then yes get one. If not, save you money for something else.

I saw in your post here, you decided to go with Raptor tranny w/2300stall. Which level Raptor did you go with? I went with the level3 w/Torque Drive package, good to 600+ft.lbs. Torque. 2300/stall. It's awesome, launches like a mad dog, even w/335 V700's spin tires all through 1st. gear. Feels so good to have a solid tranny .. how does yours feel, where are your shift points, did you have to adjust the governor? Seems to me a higher stall will reduce streetability.

I'm only looking at torque converters, the #2 "Super Street Raptor" @ 2300stall, is the one I'm getting. It's rated to 450hp and has a carbon fiber lock-up clutch.
My Vette has 50k on it so the plan is to install new TC, extra fluid cooler and new fluid, then go to the track and see if I can get into the 12's this spring..
Right now my tranny shifts between 5500 and 5800 rpms. If I can get into the 12's by shifing myself @ 6000 to 6200 I'll be happy, if not I'll be getting B&M's governor kit.
Yes, I want good streetability as-well, right now my idle is set at 850rpms. At 850 the motor makes enough torque to engage the stock converter, so it takes more braking force to hold her at the stop lights.
I'm hoping the higher stall corrects this problem as-well as droping my 60' times.

Checkout Edge Racing Converters and talk to Andre. Quite knowledgeable and is willing to understand what you are after instead of selling you more stuff. The first time we talked he spent 45 mins on the phone with me answering my questions and enlightening me. If nothing else it worth a phone call.

You have a 4L60E trans you need a shift kit first or a hypertech to beef up the line presure, the vigilate would be a good investment 2 year warranty and 1 free stall change.

Line pressure is covered, no problem. Shifts like a bear.
