After a long rebuild on a 85, mostly stock 355ci, I am seeing "funny" behavior. The instrument cluster blinks and the readout data jumps to rediculous numbers every few seconds. I initially figured the power supply in the dash was flaking out and I can fix that so didn't do much. But, yesterday I hooked up my laptop to the ECM with WinALDL and every few lines I have all zeros while the engine is running. This is an 85 so this means every 5-8 seconds I get nothing from the ECM?
I've double checked every ground wire I can find, has anyone else seen this? How did you fix it? Can anyone think of the most likely place where I may have not connected something back up correctly?
make absolutely sure your charging system is operating properly...
mine had the same symptoms you describe...
replaced the power supply in the dash cluster... Then i was able to see the brown out and power surge situation in my charging system... the new power supply quickly burnt out again...
otherwise, some have had success checking and cleaning the fuse panel
