A month or so ago my clutch starting slipping in six gear. Now it slips in every gear if you push it hard enouph. There is about 140,000 miles on the vette and I would asume this means I need to replace the clutch, but after a few weeks of not driving it, the clutch does perfect for the first minute or so and then gradually starts slipping again. Is it normal for that to happen or what else could it mean?
About a year ago I had to replace the clutch slave cylinder and i have not had a chance to crawl under the car and check that out yet.

It sounds like time for a clutch to me. I was told at one time that the LTx motors had an inherant problem with oil dripping onto the Dual Mass Flywheel and causing some 'slippage issues' but I have never confirmed that. With that kind of milage, I'd be willing to venture off and say that a clutch would help either way.
But also check out the rear main seal while you are in there. I am presuming thats where the oil drip you guys are talking about (I am an L98 guy) but if you are in there, won't be too hard to change that as well and might be a good time too!
I just ordered a new clutch for my 96. Got it from http://www.carolinaclutch.com/index.html for just over $900 shipped. That is the whole package, dual mas flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate and both bearings.
The flywheel alone from the Chevy dealer was $1100, the rest was a little over $500.

Yes! Dear god whatever you do, don't do this through a dealer. It will be like buying a new car if you do.
