Quiet High Flow Exhaust??
I was reading about how to reduce muffler sound above and decided to try blocking one port on each side. I fabricated an aluminum plug for each side, seated them in the tail pipe about 2” and painted them flat black, so as to be less visible from behind. The cool part is how well it worked. I can now hear myself think, I can hear the radio, what a deal!!!
The engine feels smother through the gears and engine temp appears unaffected.
I bought the car with these loud mufflers already on it and was planning on replacing them; this little trick saved me a tone of time and money.

Plug one of the outlet pipes on the flowmasters and it will help quiet the resonance. Yeh I know I'll catch flack, but thats what I did. Didn't make any noticable difference at the track once when I forgot to unplug 'em. Seems like I used some black plastic plumbing plugs. No, they didn't melt either! and weren't too noticable. OK, let me have it.

Flowmaster makes a 50 series, high flow, low pressure that is a nice tone, with minimal to almost zero drone, but if you get on it, it growls with authority. I had the 50 series on my old Dodge big Block Power Wagon, and boy did it sound really good, with a thunderous lumpy idle, and there was absolutely no drone at any speed or rpm in the cabin.

Moreso, do you think the OP -- who posted his question 12 years ago, will see your answer? In case it helps, his last post was five years ago.
j/k....I know how easy is it to NOT notice what some thread-troller has pulled up.
There is a well-documented difference in the sound/drone of a muffler on one car vs another. What drones on one body shape may not on another. As well-meaning as your post might be, it's not relevant.

and agreeThe C4 interior is one big speaker box on top of an exaust system/rearend the 50s will still drone some esp with an auto and tall gears. If you want a quiet car these arent the ones. Watch TV

I had forgotten to mention I used 50 series on everything from my old power wagon, to my 79 L-82 vette, one of my 92's, and now I have one on my 90 sportside 350tbi that's tweaked a little. They all had no drone at all at any speed/rpm, and had a nice throaty sound. BTW, I used to work in an exhaust shop and I've heard so many different cars with the same type/brand of mufflers and the one that had the least amount of change from car to car was the 50 series flowmaster, that's why I use it. Just my 2c worth. Party on dudes!
This is one subject I'm hoping to address this winter.
Anyone ever play around with sound deadening?
i'm going to dynamat my car and install some foam and vinyl mat over the top mainly focusing on the back of the car in hopes to keep it down a bit.

What do y'all think of the Hooker cast iron manifolds?
I don't want headers, just want to replace the cracked manifold.
Do you know if they will fit the stock exhaust?
If not do they point downward enough so that it won't catch the car on fire when I drive to the muffler shop?
