Default 17x11 ZR1 Wheels

I'm interested in the 17 x 11 ZR1 wheels with the GS offset, and 315/35/17s for my backs. Can you tell me if the tire and rim sticks out of the fender well when installed? Here in Hawaii, we can't have the tire sticking out of the fender wells so I'm trying to see if I can make it happen. Can you send or post some photos of the rear wheel and fender spacing, if you have them on your Vette.
Thanks

They do stick out some... but not much. maybe a ½ inch. You can get a set of 96 GS fender flares that will solve that problem for you.

They stick out but it is really insignificant. Some people think they need the flairs and other think they don't need em at all. I don't think mine needs em. I can tell you this, it isn't enough to be against the law.

James:
Try a search for topics about the 17x11s. I remember this question coming up a while back (maybe early this year??) and some forum members posted some great pictures. Good Luck!

From what I heard, they can't stick out further than your mirror... I could be mistaken ... yes they do stick out some, but not that much... If I knew how to post pictures in here, I'd show you some pix of my C4 with the 17X11 rears...

Driver side..looks like a lot from the angle, but its about 1/2 inch

Passenger side...fits completely under. My car was just built this way. Most other C4's stick out a little on both sides. Im not the only person with this "problem", talked to a few other folks on the forum that have one stick out further than the other. looks a little funny to me, but no one else notices it. you will love the 315's

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Well there you have it!!! It by far isn't the hilljack race car look of the 70's. They pretty much sit flush to the body line. Like I said earlier... if that is illegal, there are still the body flares.

Mine are the exact opposite of Firevette's car - mine are flush with the fender on the drivers side, and out 1/2" on the passenger side.

Mine sit flush also. Be aware that certain brand 315/35/17's vary from the other even though they are the same measurement. I have Nitto's 555 Drag Radials and they are within .5-.25" outside the fender, practically nothing

Will the cars suspension ever compress enough to crush the tire into the quarter lip? I remember in high school seeing way to many camaros and mustangs with fat tires that had mangled the rear quarter lips from the tires smashing into them over bumps.

No, never heard of it happening. The GS carried this size wheel in stock form, I dont think GM would have overlooked that.

Here's the ZR1 wheel and 335/35ZR17 Comp TA R1s. They don't stick out, but I also used the early hubs to allow the tire to tuck further under the fender. A very hard bump and they will rub the plastic inner fenders though.

Thanks all for your replys, and thanks Firevette for the photos. One more question....does any one know anything about those ZR1 rims on ebay...the one that are being sold from Florida from "OE Wheels" This is what got me thinking. I Love the ZR1 looks on the C4, and these rims are being sold for about $500 a set. The only thing is that they only carry two 17X9.5s and two 17X11s, or four 17X9.5s. This is why I was thinking about the 17X11s. Are they any good, or are they cheap wheels?
Thanks

Generally every seems to be satisfied with them. I have bought a set off ebay and was pretty happy. I sold them for more than I paid for em the next week but they looked fine for repro's. My 11's are AFS repro's and they look fine.

I just bought a set of the polished ZR-1 wheels from OE Wheels via ebay. The wheels arrived when they said they would and they are exactly what I hoped they would be. They even came with a full set of matching lug nuts, wheel locks, and center caps. Im a happy camper.

I purchased my zr1 wheels from OE Wheels on Ebay. Great price and great looking wheels. They do not stick out at all even with the 17x11 in the rear with Nitto Drag Radials!

What is the offset on the 17x11 rears?
