What needs to be changed to make it happen?
Is there a place I could take my 84 to get transformed in the northwest area?
Has anybody done this and what problems occur?
If you do a search on the subject you will find that 100's of people have posted on the subject. The major drawback is hood clearance and loss of MPG, although I doubled the hp so I don't know how much the carb or my engine effected mpg.
Some of the things needed are:
carb
intake
new distributor
fuel pressure regulator
new radiator hose
brackets if you have an automatic trans for tv cable
some more minor items.
I swapped my 85 over to carb with my new engine because the TPI wasn't good for high rpm, 400+ hp. the crossfire should be the same type of swap.
Another item is a means to engage the TCC. You WILL be eliminating the computer. You will lose all the advantages of a computer controlled EFI car, ease of starting, drivability, mileage, etc. The carb is a step backward. Good gains can be made with the Crossfire. Porting the stock intake gave me better than a half second in the 1/4 mile. Besides the carb, there are better EFI alternatives.
