Default LT-4 upgrade thread.

Multiple topics that have been discussed numerous times, but I didn't pay close enough attention. So, I have a handful of questions.

1) Headers - primary diameter for a basically stock LT-4? May eventually get head work and a hot cam upgrade, but that's all I am condidering on this car. I know 1 7/8 are too big. But what are your thoughts on 1 3/4 vs 1 5/8?

2) Preferred plug wire upgrade?

3) Preferred spark plug upgrade?

That's it for now.

Thanks!

Basically stock motor is best served by the smallest primary header you can find.
Wire upgrade? Everyone has a different preferrence. Pick what you like.
Spark plug upgrade? Upgrade? A spark plug is nothing more than a controlled air gap...stock works as well as anything.

Personally for the headers I would go with the 1 3/4", mainly because you will not lose anything down low and you start to make a very good increase in the lower-end of the midrange and all the way up top. The LT4 responds very well to that size header. Dynos consistantly show 315-320RWHP and 320+ RWTQ, up from an average 300-305 RWHP and RWTQ. Forum member Perfusion recently put longtubes on his otherwise stockish (K&N and Corsa) LT4 and got some great numbers...hopefully he'll chime in here or you can drop him a PM and ask him what his final numbers were.

As for wires, use anything that's decent, Taylor makes some nice ones.

For plugs, I use NGK-TR55's on my LT4 and they run great.

Thanks. You and I have similar thoughts on the headers. I was looking at the Taylors. And the plug number you gave is exactly what I was looking for. For some reason, I thought there was more to the TR55, but I must have been wrong.

THanks again.
