My planned mods are:
SuperRam (I have)
accel/Lpe 219 cam (not yet)
Trick flow heads (i'm ordering..)
hooker LT headers (I have)
with the mods I have already (in my sig).
Do you think I need to update my perfectly working in tank Fuel pump?
I know that on 84 models the first thing to change is the fuel pump when yuo upgrade the engine, but i never heard of it for upgraded L98 engines...
Thanks in Advance

It is widely RUMORED to change the fuel pump on an "84. But, there is no need to upgrade a good, 1984 fuel pump. I race my Crossfire weekly. I have my fuel pressure set slightly higher than stock, I wind my engine a lot higher than most, and my car is faster than most (Crossfires)... All with a stock '84 fuel pump. Anyone that has had an improvement by upgrading the pump, would have had the same improvement with a stock pump, because they NEEDED a pump. It is a relatively simple test to tell if the pump is satisfying the needs of the engine.
Somehow these pumps that only flow like 60 lph are adequately supplying modded L98's, mine included. Hard to believe, but true...if its not broke don't fix it.

So, definitively I do NOT need a new bigger fuel pump w/ my planned mods?

It is a widely held belief by many. The test of the pump for the '84, your car, and any other, is to see if it is doing it's job. Hook up a pressure gauge and attach it to the outside of the windshield, where you can read it while driving. Then go make a run. Pay particular attention to the pressure at the higher rpms, in the higher gears, where the demand for fuel is the greatest. If the pressure holds, the pump is doing all you want or need it to.
