Default LTPWS light still on?

I took off my sensors when I got new rims b/c they were damaged. Any ideas on how to get the service light to go off?

Pull the bulb out of the dash.
That's what I did.

The early cars with LPTWS could be removed with no issues.

I just replaced the tires on my '92, and I left the sensors out because I had been getting the "Service LPTWS" frequently. After removing the sensors I drove the car about 20 miles at 65-70 mph, and the service light did not come on. I thought this was strange, and I thought the light should come on since the senors were not present.

Are you saying that's normal? If so, it looks like you're right although I've never heard of that.

Yes...well...maybe not. It's not *difficult*, per se, but it just takes a little time to make sure you find all the nuts to remove. From memory, I'll give you a good head-start, but I may have forgot a nut here or there.

I usually start by removing the center console lid. It'll still be connected by the wires that go to the little light, but it can be rotated and put in the back cargo area fairly easily. Next remove the carpet inside the center console. Towards the coin holders in the front, there will be 2 nuts that'll need to come out. Then, there's a third under either your cupholder liner or ashtray that also has to come out. After that, the trim piece (that surrounds your shifter) should come out. If it's not coming off easily, I've forgotten a nut - just look around a little more and you'll find it. After that's out, you'll need to remove the trim piece that surrounds the radio, climate control unit, and display area. There should be 2 nuts at the bottom of that piece, plus one more that's hidden behind the A/C vent to the right of your steering wheel. That's held on by 2 torx bits. After the vent comes off, you can access the top nut. Once it's out (IIRC), you will then be able to see all the smaller screws/nuts that hold the radio, etc. in. Before pulling the display unit out, make sure you know about where the bulb should be located...just turn the key to light it up. Anyway, take the display unit out, take it partially apart, and remove the appropriate bulb!

It's really not *that* bad at all... It was one of the first things I ever did on my Vette, and I just winged it w/o instructions. Just start taking stuff apart! You'll figure it out soon enough, and it shouldn't take you very long at all.
