First, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas..
I need to replace my two rear tires. I currently have Firestone Firehawk SZ50's all the way around, but my front tires as nearly new. As you may all know, Firestone no longer offers the Firehawk SZ50's (at least in the size I need 285's). I will be purchasing Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's, but was wondering if I could get away with just replace the two rears I need? (the two front tires are like new)
Will this cause a problem? The Kumho 712's are recommended for replacing the Firehawks, but I was wondering if mixing the two would be problematic? Any advise would be appriciated...
Whoa, I must be living under a rock. I didn't know the SZ50's were no longer available. I have these all the way around right now and they are going to need replaced in the spring. Are those Khumo's or whatever the best replacement for those? I'm after more treadlife than performance. I'll probably have drag slicks also for occasional strip use.
I have Duncrap SP8000's on the front and the superior Michelin Pilot Sports on the rear, no problems at all, you don't want to mix side to side. As long as each axle has a match, you are fine.

Oh and BTW, I'm running Kumho MXs on the front now (I killed the rear ones ) and Nitto DRs on the rear and will be staying with that set-up. It still handles very well, even running the Nittos at 26 psi for street use.
Sorry for the late reply, I have had some problems with my computer
Thanks to all that responded. I am glad to hear I will be able to save $300.00 and only buy two rear tires...
Oh and by the way, My brother just sold his z06 and bought a 2005 C6 (Corvette Yellow). It is a very nice car!!!! He had planned to wait until the 2006 Z06 came out, but then he heard they will be starting at $75K... I hope they don't due what they did with the ZR-1 and price them out of most people's range...
