I'm putting new injectors in my 88 5.7 TPI. I was told on this site to use Ford SVO #24 on it but I guess the ECM needs to be recalibrated.
How is this done or how do I tune the injectors?
As a novice at looking at the innards of chips I can tell you that there is an "Injector Constant" recorded in the chip. What I can't tell you is what that value is for either your stock injectors or the SVOs. Your MAF will do a lot of compsentating so it may not be necessary to make a change. A scan to determine your rich/lean condition will give you a clue as to your next move.
ECM will compensate some, but for optimum performance, a chip designed for the larger injectors is needed. Just so happens that my car is an 88 with SVO 24# injectors. Constant in stock chip is 22, but I hade to set mine at ~26.25 to get my fueling correct. The Ford injectors are rated at a lower FP than we use.
If you want to spend a few bucks for the moates adapter and chip, I'll gladly burn you my tune which also adds some timing and I can turn your fan on at whatever temp you want.
