Default spring help.

I have a few questions about the new VBP composite springs I am in the process of installing.

Question 1. The instructions talk of removing all spacers and "restoring ride height". Is'nt factory ride height higher than what the lowering effect of spacer removal will be?

The VB springs were designed to sit at stock height without the spacers. If you put the spacers in, it'll sit higher than stock.

With a stock spring, would removing the spacers lower the ride height?
Is there any reason not to do this?
Sorry to hyjack your post.

Default Spring help.

I did a spring swap with a VBP spring about 2 months ago. Spring was a little different shape than original (narrower at the ends) but fit perfect. Only used one of my original spacers because their center area was thicker than that of the old spring. Couldn't use the spacers if I wanted to because the four center mounting bolts would not have enough thread and metal seats on the longer two center bolts would not seat all the way if I did use my old spacers. Rear end sat at 28 inches from ground to top of wheel well opening (measuring thru center of wheel. Intend to adjust to 27.5 inches but I am waiting to see if it "settles" a little first. Don't sweat the spacers if it bolts up correctly, re-install the two outter spring bolts (the real long ones) at the same adjustment as when they came out. Check your height before and after, then go from there.

Yes, the ride height will be lowered by removing the rubber spring pads. I think the spring will wear from abrasion against the aluminum arms if you do this though.

Default springs!

The VBP instructions specifically indicate you are not suppose to use the spacers as they will damage the spring.

I guess my real question is: I want to lower my car some-----will this work?

Thanks for the response, I was actually referring to removing the spacers and leaving the rubber. There looks to be about an inch of plates above the rubber that I would like to remove to lower the car unless there is another reason for it being there.
