Default Code 43 again

1985 L98
I thought I had beaten my code 43 (faulty knock sensor). Then a month or so ago, it appeared again one day. Today it also showed up. Granted its only been twice in probably 3 months, but I have no idea why it would appear.
Here's what I have done:

Replaced the knock sensor.
Replaced the wiring.
This got rid of my first appearences of the Code 43
But then I was left with some pretty awful false knock so...
Upgraded ESC module - this helped, but it wasnt perfect so...
It was about a month after doing this that I had the code 43 reappear.
Disconnected the no. 5 blue wire (ESC Sensor) to the ESC module (which made a pretty kickass difference BTW)...
I got the code 43 AGAIN after doing that....

any more ideas? anything I need to check? I wouldn't care about the code appearing except that it retards my timing when it occurs.

Disconnect your oil temp sensor. If its like my 91 its located above the oil filter. If that clears the code, replace the oil temp sensor. I posted some threads on this about 3-4 months ago. Did all the Helms checks etc., then found out it was the oil temp sensor. Don't know why, but it worked.

BTW what did you Torque the sensor to? should have been 14 ft or 168 In?

my sensor was overtorqued, which is probably what caused my false knock... false knock does not set a code 43 however....

I was reading through my Helms, and I noticed a reasonable explanation for cshuman's result. It says that any intermittant code should not be treated as a standard code, i.e. don't use the step by step procedures. It tells me that another sensor (such as the oil temp sensor) which reports data to the ecm could be surging and causes a false code... I will look into this... I wasnt able to find the oil temp sesnor, i think i'll need to get under the car better....
