Default Just curious. What would happen if....

My wife's nephew was too embarrassed to ask me for a ride in the vette (he's at the age where he likes "fast" cars). So, for an addition to his Xmas present, I gave him a ride on Xmas day. We went and got gas (not all that exciting) then hit the on-ramp. Got a rolling start, gave a little gas while taking up driveline slack, and let it all go. Held it to about 6K RPM and as the tires just started to grip, shifted into second harder than I had before, but nothing like Mojo's power shifts (I got out of the gas between shifts). Still, I got a good rear-sideways "churp" in to second. Pretty fun. The most beating I've done to the car since owning it. So....
What would happen if I was at a standing start and had the RPMs up around say 3K or 4K, and (after taking up driveline slack) dropped the clutch? Would it stall? Would it churp and bog? Would it make big grins??? I ask this because I remember another member posting a video of their C4 LT4 with 4:10 gears and bolt-on mods leaving long stripes from a standing 2nd gear start. I was wondering if it would please me as such before I get the 4:10s that I eventually want to get.

Oh, and by the way....Happy New Year!

Not sure why you'd want to drop it at 3k..

Today for example, coming out of a culdesac I revved it to 5500 and dropped the clutch.. then left foot on the brake....

It was almost boring really, roasting the tires for 10 seconds at 5500. Use the brake pedal to control your speed, but go easy on it... your rear pads won't like you.

I haven't done any 2nd gear burnouts, but those will put out some smoke fast, since the tires are spinning so fast. Make sure to drop it from redline though, to avoid burning up the clutch or stalling out in an embarassing way.

As far as taking up the slack, um, are you feathering the clutch? That's the only way to take up slack... I'd rather wack the gears then roast the clutch. Gears can take it. Especially your straight cut ZF.

Nice plates btw.
