Default DFI/FAST/Big Stuffs

Can these stand alone control boost pressure in the same way as the Apexi electronic boost controller do?? I know with the stand alone it can read boost pressure and increase fuel accordingly. I am thinking of getting Apexi for my turbo project but the darn thing cost almost $400 ship. I am going to get the DFI at later on and don't wanna to waste that $400 for the Apexi boost controller. I might just to with a electric boost controller for now. Any thought on this?

ps. Example, for the street trim I will be running 1 bar and 2 bar with race fuel. I can use the Apexi to control from 1 bar to 2 bar of boost and increase fuel. With the DFI/FAST/Big Stuffs, they all can read boost pressure and increase fuel but can not control boost pressure, is this correct??

I know that the FAST box cannot control boost or fuel pressure. That would be awesome if someone would build a box that electronically controls fuel pressure and boost in conjunction with a stand alone EFI wideband O2. My car was smoking pretty good and I finally figured out that I had set my fuel pressure at the regulator at 36psi while at idle with the vacuum/boost reference line connected. I was unaware (I'm new to this EFI stuff) that the fuel pressure is effected by boost AND vacuum. Sure enough... I unhook the reference line... set the regulator to 34psi... plug the line back in... whalaa.... no more smoke....idles at 26 psi of fuel pressure. It would be nice if someone had a box to take care of all of this as fuel volume mixture is a constant problem.

Look into the Big Stuff 3 and Haltech E11, both have outputs to control boost, may be optional but they have'em.

Not sure what's available with the Bigstuff. The GEN3's information claims that it will support monitoring Turbo shaft RPM and a multiple stage boost controller. It would be worth a call to John Meaney to discuss.

The AEM ECU also controls boost natively. Very popular on the Honda side of the house, but they have applications for domestics including the Viper and the Mustang. Not sure what's available for the LT1 based applications, but if it's not already there, its supposed to be coming.

FAST and DFI do not have ability to control boost, but the BS3 appears to be able to be set up in this manner. I am just getting started with the BS3 and will be interested in becoming versed on it as I have become on Accel and FAST.

I would look into the AEM unit. 90% of the hi-hp supras are running this ECU and swears by it. They sell the mustang ECU in Summit, don't know if they have one for LT motors though.
