Default oil coolers and headers...

i am installing my headers on my 89 vert.. i got the drivers side up .. really an easy fit except they hit the rubber coolant lines for the oil cooler.... has anyone ran into this...

if memory serves me (its been a few years since turn the wrenches,,, is not the adapter able to be turned and only held on with a big nut using the oil filter nipple or am i in for replumb job.. figured i would ask before removing every thing..

redvette - you are correct. that oil cooler has about 90 degrees of rotational "play", so you should be able to swivel it closer to the block. i did the same thing plus made up a strap to keep the lines from getting near the headers. good luck!

well i thought i was too... but i am not ...lol i am wrong i just took the filter off and and tey cooler the bolts that old the main part to the block are long headed and the cooler has an indexing ring that is welded in place to keep the cooler from swiveling .... seems as if fro some reason they think its gonna go somewhere ?? i really don't see the need for the longer bolts .. and an indexing ring ,,

it won't swivel at all, even after you loosen the nut on the center nipple? well that sucks! sorry for the mistake!

ya thats what i thought..... i am thinking i may remove some of this indexing rin so it does swivel out of the way and then do as you suggested and make a bracket to hold it away... that wil insure it wont work its way back for some reason..

make sure you get those headers Ceramic Coated!!!
most companies don't really ceramic coat them. when they say they are coated they dip plate the outside with cheap metal!
this doesnt do anything! except peel after a yr! also alot dont even coat inside and out!
get the real ceramic coating!
I will ceramic coat any headers inside and out for $188.
this includes all preping, 3 yr warranty, and a limited lifetime rust warranty. !!!!!!!
this is the best price/guarentee out there!
please email me and let me know!

Another option (which i have done) is to wrap your cooler lines in a form of thermal tape.
