has anybody seen these kits you can put on to shoot fire out the back of your exhaust tips? i know some of you may think this is racey or gay or whatever but please put aside your opinions and help a fellow forum member out. I remember hearing about a kit onetime that was made for fuel injected vehicles and it shut down half the fuel going to the cylinders or whatever so it went straght through the exhaust so you didnt have to install little fuel canisters under the back of the body or whatever. who knows about these kinds of kits? cam someone help me out?
The kit kills the spark to the plugs for a few seconds, raw fuel is dumped into the exhaust, then there is 2 sparkplugs in the exhaust tips to reignite the fuel and shoot a flame. It wont work with catalitic converters...Saw it installed on a show called "Trucks" a while back...
I saw that episode of trucks a while abck buts its been a while thats what made me think of it. do you know who makes the kit? I would think it would be ok with our bumpers if you had the tips sticking out far enough
Yes flame throwers. Very sweet on the old muscle cars. Thing is, you will most likely mess up your back bumper by doing this. Not to mention its (I highly doubt anywhere in the US isn't) illegal. Plus, imagine the look of flames out of a sharp cutting lines car. It just doesn't go together too well IMO.
Please don't get me wrong, I don't think it is ricey or gay. Just trying to save you a bumper or two and a possible explosion. (Gas tank right by exhaust)

somewhere i have a wireing diag so you can make your own module to make the spark, then all you need is a spark plug mounted in your exhaust tail pipe.
on the turbo cars we run over here in England you dont need an ign cut just the spark in the exhaust, but it wont work if you are running cats
when i have 5 mins I can draw a wire diag for you, its really simple to make all you need is a condenser and a 5 pin relay

I'd like to state that I don't think it is a good idea on a plastic car. The best scenario I can give you is to go buy a C4 Ertl model... build it to perfection and place it within inches of your fire place next time you need to get warm. I don't think it is a good idea... however...
If you install some kind of fuel canister in the spare tire well that feeds a fuel source into the tail pipe... with a spark plug to ignite it... you should be able to produce the flames at any time without hindering the motor. You could blast flames at WOT and still launch like a ****.
i have seen ads for flame thrower kits in magazines. i think it might have been in "truckin" or "sport truck" magazine. the company sells all kinds of kits like lamorgini doors and suicide doors and kits to make your hood spilt in half and stuff like that. look in those mags and see if you can find an ad like that. i think some of the ricer mags might have the ad too, i also might have seen it in an old school kustom mag.
When I first heard of the flamethower kit my first thought was .. rice .. But, the first time I actually saw a kit in operation was at this years Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend's midnight cruise. It was on a C3 chrome bumper big block and it did look pretty awesome. I don't think it would work out very well on a C4 unless you had your exhaust tips pointing down!!!
Flames out of the exhaust goes back about 60 years! The early hot rodders screwed in a spark plug or tow in the tail pipe and wired them to either the distributor or a power source and a switch. Then they would close the carb choke (they had manual choke cables back then) until the engine ran so rich that raw fuel would dump into the exhaust.
Then just open the choke, step on the loud pedal, and hit the switch and you'd get flames about 3 feet out from the tailpipe tip.
