Understanding Opti Codes-HELP
What codes will an opti cause?
My Corvette only has 24,000 miles and this will be the third cap and rotor and the second opti.
Thoughts on using a GM opti and the MSD cap and rotor or use the complete Dynotech Engineering unit?
I only want to replace this once!
. You'll get more responses with a good title anyway. The normal codes that you get for the opti are the hi-res and low-res signal ones. I believe they are 33 & 34 ? I'd have to look to double check.
How are you checking for codes?

With my above assumption, A/B means nothing in your case unless you or someone else has converted the car to an earlier OBD I PCM. If the PCM is unchanged, on '96s, you can't jumper pins A & B of the Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) to get Powertrain Control Module (PCM) codes. FWIW, the ALDL pins are numbered vs lettered on '94 and later cars.
To pull PCM codes on a '96 you have to have a scan tool or laptop based scan software. AutoZone will pull the codes for free.
All '96 PCM codes (including codes for the Opti) are Pxxxx, where xxxx = a numerical code such as P0300 which is a Misfire code).
If your Service Engine Soon light isn't on, no codes are present.
The codes you can pull on a '96 (and earlier models) are CCM, ride control, and some ABS and ASR codes.
If you want to avoid cap and rotor issues in the future, then something like the DelTeq or LTCC systems are the way to go versus the DynoTech opti.
