Default Questions For New Wheel Purchase...

Ok, just have a few questions about wheels before I plop down some cash. I'm looking at a set of new chrome Z06 Motorsports for my '92 My questions are as follows:
1 Torn as to choose between 17x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 rear, or 18x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 rear?

2 Any handling advantage to having 17's up front? (thinking of ZR1's & C5's)Why on some models is this done?

3 Going with 275/35 tires in front, 295/35's in rear. Good combo?

4 The tire/wheel package I'm looking at has Kumho's on them. How are they? Better than BFG gForce's?

INFO: I know to keep the same offset, or close to it, and I'm not auto-x ing or drag racing, just hi way/street driving, the upgrade is purely cosmetic!)
Thanks guys ( and girls)

1. I would go with all 18s. I ended up with the 17/18 combo because I wanted OEM Z06 wheels.

2. You will get slightly sharper turn in with the 18s since they are a lower profile an thus less sidewall flex.

3. Those sizes will be a perfect setup.

4. I've heard good things about the Kumho MXs. I don't have experience with either brand really so hopefully someone else will give you some feedback or go to the Tire Rack and compare them.

Good luck and remeber I want to see some pics when you're done!

Thanks once again, the Admiral pullin' thru!! I was wondering how the 17/18 combo would look,(like the early C5's ,I'm such a C5 wannabe!) thought it might be cool, but maybe 18's are better all the way around. Also, I have gForce on the vehicle now, just comparing them to Kumho's b/c the pkg I'm looking at has K's on them.
OK Ad, thanks a mil...

Not sure how much better the Kumho's are but the are a great tire for the $$$. Just installed a set with my new Z06 wheels and love them. If I had to pay full price I would have went with the 17/18 combo but I got a great deal on the 17's.

Default 18" all around

If someone was to go 18" all around what size tire should you run? I have seen rims for sale that are 5/120 with a 36mm offset, people have been running then on camaro's and trans am's. Do you think they would work on a corvette?

36mm is the ZR-1 offset so assuming you go with the 11" wide rim, it will stick way out, but they will work. Stock is 56mm for the non-ZR-1 sawblades.

As far as tires, I run 275/35 in front and 295/35 in back. That kept the overall diameter as close to stock as your gonna get.
