Tips of the valve stem can wear on the edge or if the pushrods are too short rockers will rub the valve keeper.

If the length is off the rocker will ride more to one side than across the center of the valve stem tip. This can cause excessive side thrust which can wear the valve guides.

Someone just give you a set of pushrods?
Make sure and have the length and straightness checked!

Get yourself an adjustable pushrod , Comp Cams make different sized ones depending on your application. What you want is the roller rocker tip to travel from the inner part of the stem (not the egde) to the outer part of the valve stem ( not the edge)! You want max lift to be right about the center of the stem! I lost my abiity to post pics but as soon as I get it back I'll post a pic!
