what to do? no power!
ok heres the deal
my car has been mostly apart in the garage and driven here and there for the past 5 months.
well today I went and got the new belt i needed...fits perfect!
Ive left the battery disconnected! So what I did was reconnect it and trickle charge it. I started with the 2 amp setting and then went to the 10 amp setting and eventually on to the 50 amp to start it all in a peroid of 10 mins. Right when it was Barely turning over i put it to 50 and tried starting it agian all of a sudden it just stopped the dash and all the lights/power went out. i immediately took the charger off. and toook the key out and tried it agian and no power! no inside lights no dash no nothin that had just been working a moment before!
whats wrong?
thanks alot your friend

There is a chance you also blew out a fusable link, or, the battery had an internal short... or any number of fuses.
No power ANYWHERE? check to be sure the cables are secure, and the wiring behind the battery is good (that is where the fusable links are).
First thing I would do is remove the battery, and if you have another one, even if it isn't a perfect fit, just to see if the cars electrical system is ok.
Whenever I have a car off the road for a long time, I like to put the battery on a trickle charge for several hours before trying to start it the first time.
Currently, I am rebuilding the engine in the gf's car, when I get the engine back in, I will plug the charger up to the battery whilst getting the last of the wiring resolved. When I am ready to fire, the battery will be good to go.
If none of that works, check the helms manual. It will outline the wiring to debug this.

just a thought but should cars be charged with battery connected or not? I always thought not! 9 unless its a battery tender type)If you have put 50 amps through charger and then the alteranor helps this whilst cranking it could have overloaded the fusible link? Any voltage at battery terminals..if not then maybe internal damage to battery?
let us know what the problem was..its one that many Vette owners may come up against as the battery/starting on Vettes is not one of its strongest points!!
are whols the things that hook driectly to each terminal with an insulated wire inbetween the screw and the battery?
thanks alot guys!
and the how do I check to see if the fuses are bad/good
next time I am going to disconnect links and charge!!!!
see i didnt it like this a couple times before and nothing bad happened opps...
