4L60E Raptor
Thanks for the advice on the higher stall TC. Guess I am going with a 2300.
I ordered a Raptor Jr. this morning, then I read your response to my post. Kinda of too late, to talk to them about how they are going to resolve your issue, as I have already paid them for my new transmission. It's not to clear when I am going to get it, the first guy said by Friday, and the next person I spoke with said a couple of weeks. What is the warranty coverage? Is it 12 months? I forgot to ask them as I was busy at work today when I called them.
Let me know how your issue gets resolved, and I will be sure to let you know how I like the Raptor Jr.
BTW, is there some secret to connecting the new TC to the flywheel? I don't want to get the new tranny on and all of the other crap to find out it is out of balance and I have to drop the exhaust, etc to rotate the TC to the next bolt hole on the flywheel.
I am dropping my dead tranny this weekend, I am leaning toward buying a Raptor to go back in the vette (94 LT1). Any of you folks got an opinion on the Raptor?
Also I am confused in regards to TC stall. Everything is stock on my car, so should I go to a TC with higher stall? If so, what would be best, and what should I expect or gain?
I'm not happy with this higher stall speed converter. MANY times my upshift light comes on and there's nothing that I can do, I'm already in overdrive and it drops out of overdrive at the slightest pressure on the gas peddle.
My gas mileage dropped too. The engine is always runing in higher rpms. When I have the $$$ I'm going to pull this converter and return to a lower stall speed converter. I don't race or do burn outs, I just cruise and this is NOT the converter for me.

The Raptor seems real strong, hopefully it's just a simple stuck valve, but don't know yet. I sure hope so. I believe the warranty is 6mo.

with you that there's a little more preformance with the higher stall speed. The RPMs are always in the power band range. I do like that I just wish I would be able to stay in overdrive longer. As soon as I touch the gas it down shifts. If I could get it to stay in OD a bit longer then I wouldn't be running 21 to 2800 RPMs at 55 mph. If I let up a tad then it shifts to OD but if I press a little to keep it at say 55 it will down shift right away.If you find the name of this valve or what your mach. did let me know.
It was a mess.
I spent about 150 bux buying the pressure switches, TCC solenoid and wiring harness that goes INSIDE the transmission to get the ECM to control the TCC correctly.
Had the pan off several times trying to figure out why the ECM wasn't controlling the TCC.
Replaced ECM, etc,etc,etc,etc.
Not to mention all the time it took "ME" to figure out they didn't wire it up correctly before they sent it to me.
I think they just snatched down the first 700R4 they came to on the shelf and sent it to me.
Needless to say I was a little bit dissapointed since they tout themselves as being such 'experts'.
I probably wouldn't buy from them again due to my previous experience with them.
As a matter of fact, due to my experience with them, I WILL BE BUILDING my next 700R4 MYSELF.
There's no way I can screw one up worse than they did.
If you really need to buy one, consider a local shop where you can get 'some' accountability.
ANOTHER Raptor screwup. They hadthe wrong pressure switch in mine and my shift light would come on when I was ALREADY in 4th gear.
Screwups like these COST SOMEBODY a LOT of work.
In MY case it was ME and I really didn't appreciate buying an expensive rebuilt "Raptor" and it having all these problems.
I paid more for it to NOT have a double handful of problems after installation.
I TOLD them it was going in a 91 Vette. They SHOULD have gotten it right.
When I got it, I had MORE problems to straighten out than I did before I removed my old tranny.
It was a disgusting experience.
Don't let all the 'high powered', 'glitzy' web pages fool you.

edited to say: just went to their website and their level 4 tranny is only $1695 which they consider only for cars that are barely streetable or race only.
