It started to do it sometimes, just hard to start, it might take two to three turns of the key. Now it seems to be hard to start every time I go to start it cold. I know it could be either the injectors or the fuel pump. Can you give me some simple tests to see which it may be??? Can it be just clogged injectors??? What can I use to unclog them??? Thanks, jzvette

It may be a bad fuel pump relay, when they go bad your car will take longer to start. Get a fuel pressure tester, and a shop manual for your car, from a local auto part store. Replace your fuel filter, then test your fuel pressure. It should be around 40psi and hold there for an extended period of time. Injectors rarely go bad. My guess bad fuel pump

If it starts OK hot, it's not likely the fuel pump relay. When the relay is bad, the oil pressure must build to about 4 psi to close the switch to run the pump. With hotter, thinner, oil, the hot cranking times would be longer than cold.

It's very hard starting when you first go to start the car, after the first start it seems to be easier to start if you shut it down. It's just the first start seems the hardest. I've only started it in warm weather(75 to 90 degrees).
The fuel pump is probably one of the easiest parts to replace-just comes out from wear you fill her up-if you do end up having to replace it-make sure you get the sock also. When you turn the key on-without trying to start it do you hear the fuel pump priming? you should be able to hear it for a few seconds,if the relay is shot it will still start-like CFI-EFI said, just needs to get the oil pressure up first. The fuel pump relay-is located on the fire wall by the wiper motor-you might want to check the wires going to the relay-they shrink-exposing bare wires, mine were shrunk almost an inch, and bare wires were touching each other, easy fix.

If the relay is bad, you won't get the 2 seconds of prime from the fuel pump. The ECM closes the relay for two seconds when the key is turned to "ON". If the pump comes on for those initial 2 seconds, the relay is working.
I will listen for fuel pump and check on the relay, Thanks. If it's the fuel pump, how long a job is the replacement and how expensive are they??? It comes out right where the filler neck is??? And does the sock come separatefrom the pump?? How much is sock??

I copied these instructions from somewhere, maybe this forum:
fuel pump
Really easy to do. Depressurize the fuel system, remove fuel pump fuse, pop the rear fill door off (4 torx bolts), remove 3 hoses, remove 12 10mm bolts, pull up assembly, pop out pump, pop in new pump, reverse.
