Default ls1 in 90?

I had this crazy idea one day to put a ls1 in the place of my l98. I was wondering if anyone has done this and could give me an idea of what i might run into? I know i will have to get the computer and wiring harness. The reason I want to do this is i keep hearing how easy they are to get more power out of and they are all aluminum. thanks
Pete

By the time that you buy the new motor and fix it up, it would be a lot cheaper to either buy a crate motor or fix up the L98. Check out John Lingenfelters book, "Modifying small block chevy engines." He has a few different suggestions on rebuilding the L98 from 425hp to 525hp.

One of the reasons I wanted to go with the ls1 is because it is all aluminum and that means light. The other thing is 500hp out of the stock l98 block is a lot...can it handle it?? I don't want to worry about it coming apart or something stupid like that.

The stock L98 block should be able to handle it. They were built pretty stout, and if John Lingenfelter recomends it is probably more than capable of handling it. Before he only started doing c5 and c6 kits, the 525hp 420ci L98 was one of the ones that he did, and he guranteed it for 25,000mi.

Also check out this site. They mention Linginfelters motor and a few other combinations that a person could go with.
