In the machine shop we used Krylon off the shelf rattle can clear on cast aluminum. Will take 5 or six good coats to get into all the little cast dimples.

Krylon is all I used on my intake, plenum and runners and it's still looking good after 3 years.
Yes, indeed - the Eastwood high gloss clear powdercoat works beautifully on intake manifolds, valve covers, etc. It does not darken the aluminum at all and will last for years. As to clearcoat, there is no reason that should not work either. Intakes and valve covers are low temp applications. But I would expect either powdercoat or clearcoat to burn off of any hi temp surface like heads in the areas near the exhaust manifolds. Powdercoating blocks also works quite well.

the question is: what ClearCoat product can be used to PAINT ALUMINIUM????? OTHER THEN Krylon
Use any clearcoat - Martin Senour, DuPont, etc. They're all the same stuff. Make sure the part is clean and then follow directions. But be careful. These products contain isocyanates and can do some serious damage to you. Wear a respirator, paint suit, rubber gloves.

Thats i thought..clear it is. >OMNI-SV , (PPG second line of paints, 4-1)<..realize the parts need to be clean , ther are sand blasted now will use grease/ wax remover just before spray..please let me know if this is suitable...
thanks
The best product like that I've used is POR-15-They have a couple of clears, one that yellows (careful). I haven't checked with them in awhile, but they used to make one called glisten, I believe-Looks a mile deep! Their product dries rock hard and looks great!

yes i tried it years ago.. it a good product...but i just been watching some tv...kinda like the idea to color match to body color...sooo the engine will be painted on tuesday, meanwhile i finished the pan , timing , valve covers and just finished clearcoating the intakes (silver, red, metal flake)..in answer to "why not power coat"...is "I DONT WANT TO " ... that should be clear enough!
