I am converting my 89 Vette to a Dana 44. The unit I have acquired has larger internal dimension diff carrier bushes of about 14mm. I understand that this was an option for 'heavy duty" suspension for a C4. The internal dimension is about 14mm as opposed to about 12mm for standard. So it uses a 14 mm bolt to mount the diff carrier to the chassis.
Does anyone know why this option was developed and why (ie has the diff carrier broken free because of a stiffer rear end?? or what??).
I have a slightly stiffer sway bar (custom made adjustable) and upgraded shockers.
Are there any disaster storis out here?
cheers
