How hard is it to convert from a stick trans to auto? different trans mount, front yoke on driveshaft, what wiring has to be changed also a different C beam ? i know the flywheel needs to be changed to a flexplate. THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS
You will retain you driveline beam and swap yolks on your M6 driveshaft. The difference in driveline length is in the rear end. Depending on year (700R4,4L60 vs 4L60E) you will have a fair amount of wiring changes. Here are some pics that show the differences between the shafts and beams:
Get ahold of Corkvette1 and 85vet they both have swapped over.
You will not need to change your driveshaft, you will be keeping the D44 I assume in the rear, which will need the shorter of the two driveshafts, which you already have.

There were less C4’s made with manual transmissions than Auto’s, and the resale on a manual trans car is more than an auto. I say sell the manual and buy an auto. Don’t cut up a perfectly good manual trans car.

It's all reversable. I on the other hand bought another car for that purpose, but I still had to find the Dana44.
Problem is, since there were only about 80,000 manual cars made, it gets harder to find a D44. In all honesty if I had to do it all over again, I would buy the automatic and put a Ford 9" or a MOPAR 8 3/4 in it.
Save the 44's for the stick guys who may need a new one for whatever reason.
Might I suggest another option? What about putting in a th400 with a Gear Vendors overdrive? You will not break this setup. I did it to my car a couple years ago and love it. You can take a look at my web site I have a page with some pictures of the swap and such.
