I have the tension off of my rear spring in the above pic. Should that spring have more tension(such that it would look closer an upside U) or is it about where it should be.
The reason I ask is .........In Jesse's D36 to D44 swap tech tip he mentions it looking like an upside down U when the tension is relieved.

The arch will depend on the spring. On my stock 96 the spring had a considerable arch and after switching to a VBP spring it now has very little arch and the ride height is where it needs to be. I agree with first checking the spring for signs of wear but with it attached and the car on the stands how does the car sit and maybe more importanly how are the axles in relationship to the ground?
