Default Ignition boxes?

I have been looking around for some upgrades to the ignition for my vette. I have some questions, so my decision will be more informed.

Can the stock style (2plug 4 pin) ignition coil be replaced with a normal 2 pin type coil without using an aftermarket ignition box?

What mods to the coil's wiring harness (plug) would have to be made to use the 2-pin?

Is the MSD 6al superior to the Mallory Hyfire CD digital 6?

could a high voltage coil damage the (new) stock opti?

What custom wiring would have to be done to put a 'box in the vette?

Will it screw up the computer controls at all?

and finally..... Is it worth it? I run nitrous, so a good ignition is essential, but the opti is supposedly pretty awesome to begin with. thoughts?

Not really sure if it's worth the money but I am switching to a MSD Digital 6 plus. But I'm only doing it so I can easily pull timing for the nitrous.

Make sure you put a circuet breaker in the ground wire at the battery.
My MSD just shorted after 2 years and the red hot wire gave power to the negative black wire on the msd box.
The wires sure burnt fast and it reversed the polarity of the dry cel battery .
NOT a cheap fix and if I had the juice on, pop goes the motor.

Do you mean a something like an inline fuse?
How did you have yours hooked up?
