I have the 340 plug-n-play kit for my 1987 vette. most of the wiring is covered by the instructions (pictures) from the web site. definitely looks straight forward.
however, i don't see any wiring instructions / pictures of the actual fuel pump wiring itself. i have the new harness that plugs into the pump. it's got a white lead and a black lead with a pig tail. how is this hooked up to my current wiring? what do i need to do to wire up the fuel pump?
anyone else run into this? if so, i'd really appreciate some pointers - thanks!
Is there a + and - anywhere on the connector or where it mates on the pump. Look down inside the mating area of the pump. I don't recall having any questions on polarity when I put a walbro in mine.
Is this what you purcahsed ? It appears you should only have to plug in an adapter. They do say its a plug and play system.
my kit did not come with that connector pictured to the right of the fuel pump (with the red and black wires). instead, i have a connector with black and white wires, and the ends opposite the connection to the fuel pump are not readily able to plug into anything. i wonder if i have the correct harness kit??
Well you could hard wire that in. The "- " is ground.
Did they supply anything for rewiring inside the fuel tank ? You would need componets that can survive the gasoline enviroment. Here is a pic of a Walbro pump with the outlet broken off but you can see a + and - sign labeled on the pump.
the one end of my connector plugs into the fuel pump no problem. it's the other end that i'm having difficulty trying to figure out how to wire up. i'm not sure how to post a picture here, but i can send you a pm if you're interested in seeing what i have.
I would guess you have something that looks kinda like this.
To use these parts you would cut your old pigtail off that went to the pump and replace it with the new one. This picture shows two crimp type connectors they need to be gasoline compatible.
not exactly like that, but close. Support@racetronix responded to an e-mail i sent them today. pretty impressive on a Sunday night! hopefully they'll be able to tell me how to proceed with the wiring i have in my kit.

thanks again!
The '87 is unique as it has a EMI/RFI filter molded onto the FP wires just below the bulkhead connector. We will get back to you later today with a solution.
Each model year up until 1988 has a slightly different sending unit
Thank you very much! Please also e-mail me the wiring solution at my home e-mail address (blsjds@optonline.net) and let me know if you need any further info or pictures of my set up.
I included my work number (on e-mail sent from blsjds@optonline.net) in case you'd like to talk me through it or need to speak to me.
