C-4 Electrical Problem(1984)
Girlfriend was backing out, and the car quit. Actually, it more than quit. Anything electrical that depends on the key being turned on shut down. Looked in main fuse panel, eveything fine. Grounded battery to engine in case grounding problem, still nothing. The headlights work :-)
things not connected to the Ign key appear to all work. Everything I have read refers to a Aux fusebox. One claims it is on the fenderwell, by battery/across from brake cylinder. It is not there. Another claims it is near the mulit-relay area in the dash. I have removed the panel with the switches, exposing all behind it, and I don't see a fuse block. All reading claims there is a set of mini fuses in this Aux fuse block. I assume, my problem lies there, but can't find it. any Ideas?

Thats what it sounds like to me, maybe 1 of the contacts had a bad solder joint. If all your electrics that don't require the key still work, that would be my next step after the fuses. If there are no wires broken off, i would check the cylender with a multi-meter, to be sure it's not the cylinder itself.

Looks that way. But you can't be sure. It will be connected there you may have to follow the wire a bit.
They look like a small cylinder around the wire. I don't have an 84 but I do recall a few links next to the battery on the firewall side on mine.

Read the begining of the manual it will give you electrical troubleshooting tips. If you crawl under and see it by the starter give it a good visual inspection you may even be able to see the problem. If not you need to know how to use a volt/ohm meter or the ole 12vdc light probe. Do not fix it with a wire replace the link they are available at the local auto parts stores.

There are about 3 fusible links near the starter. These feed most of the other circuits in the car and will produce the symptoms you describe if they have gone 'open circuit'. Do you have a multimeter?

I had an '84 and had to do exactly this operation. Fusible links were toasted, but as I remember, finding the right ones was a bit of a challenge. ALL 12 violts to the car goes thru that point on the starter.
