Yes. Where ever it fits. Mine is in front of the A/C condenser.

Slipping converters cause heat, Heat is the number 1 killer of automatic transmissions. Higher stall converters cause more slippage and heat than a stock converter. In my mind, the answer is, yes, it's "a must do". As soon as I hit the "submit" button, someone will post that they have been driving around for years with a 5000 rpm stall converter and no cooler, with no problems. Listen to what others have to say and make up your own mind. You know MY feelings.

But, the unit I bought, http://www.edgeracingconverters.com/mildstreetedge.htm
claims to be a low heat, high performance converter. When I talked to them on the phone they said the extra transmission cooler is a very good idea even on the Mild Street Edge.
I got this one for 40$ and comes with all the hardware, http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/phot...7trans_pan.JPG
that's cheap insurance in my book.

Isn't that the truth!

As for a tranny cooler being a requirement, it's not a hard and fast rule to do so, but I did it just to make sure I didn't kill my tranny.

The $40 for a cooler is cheap insurance.

I run a Vigilante 2600 and was told by Precision a cooler was not necessary.
However, I'll join the club by saying its cheap insurance and you should get one. I used the B&M Supercooler and mounted it in front of the a/c condensor.

I would tend to agree with getting another cooler. I mounted mine on front of condensor. Tranny will have a better chance of a longer life if you put one on especially with the extra heat from bigger converter.

I have the same converter. I had the trans shop that built my trans install the converter at the same time. I didn't ask Precision or the trans shop if it was needed. I just said, Do It!

With all the C4 automatic failures we read about, on here, every day, I can't imagine anyone taking the gambol.

I have this same converter, 2800 stall.. Works great.. I too say to add the cooler, althought I don't have mine in yet. Buy one of the "plate" type, they have much more cooling area per square inch than the tube type..
