If I were sticking with the 700r4 I would be getting one like corky's or if you really want to get crazy and go into the unknown - I would get an 8" for the 700r4. Call this guy here: www.rosslertrans.com
first check out his site His name is Carl, and tell him I sent you.
This guy said without a doubt the 8" would have picked me up both 60' and end ET with my combo, an 8" might be too much for anything less, but he would know best. Worst case he could get you a non-lockup like Corky and Jims at a fair price. You would have to get the specs from Corky - I have them here somewhere but he would know off the top of his head probably.
Are you changing the trans and the trans only ? This would be a great comparison from a good 700 and converter to a good 350, but no other changes can be made to get a true comparison. I thought you were also thinking of changing the cam ?
No I will also be changing the cam to a larger one as well. The cam alone shows around a 50hp gain - which would not suprise me with this motor and heads.
I would have liked to have run the tranny and the converter change separate, but time is not there to do that. I figured while I have the tranny out, then I can pull the motor pretty easily, its actually all apart, just need to get out there and hook the lift onto it.
I am going to pull the motor, change the cam, degree it all in, and change all the bearing in the connecting rods while its easy access. For as many runs as we put on a season, its good maintenance to do them every 2 years - so I might as well do it while its out, then next year I don't have to worry.
But yeah it would have been neat to see what just the T350 netted. Still trying to get that high9s slip.
I'm sure you'll get it this year. MPH will definatly be alot higher because of less internal weight from the 350 and the converter will be lighter also.

I sure hope so. If that engine analyzer is even remotely close to being accurate - then this cam picked up across the boards power. Enough probably to make the car run 10.3s in the heat and in the very low 10s in the spring and fall air. So I should be good to go. Bob at Bullet Cams has a very good reputation for picking winning cam combo for these SBCs. What really made me feel good, is the cam he picked was right inline with that I figured would work pretty well with the combo. Around a high 260 duration or 270 range with more on the exhaust to help these heads out on the exhaust side. He picked 264/272 with a .645/.650 lift on a 108 LSA - that baby should put some more ponies out and with the tranny/converter combo - stall around 4800-5000 RPM it should come out of the whole like a cannon. He said just moving to from a 112lsa to a 108 lsa is going to make the car accell quicker through the RPMs. He said he couldn't believe the car was running like it was on a 112lsa
We'll see though. The proof is at the track and what it lays down ET/MPH wise.
The 108 LSA will make more peak TQ as opposed to the 112 LSA. The 112 LSA will have a broader TQ curve, good for a small motor, but IMO not as crucial with over 400 CID. I also agree with a little more ex duration too, mainly because you run mufflers. I'll bet the new ICL is around 104-106 . It's going to be a whole different car.

hey jesse my cam is almost the same as yours , its a 264-274@50 650 lift and 110 LSA, i always wanted to ask you why you went with a 112 LSA in the last cam if you were not planing on spraying the car good luck
