Default Basic Question:Oil change

I usually take the wife's car and my company car to the Jiffy Lube. I have changed past corvettes at my Dad's 400 miles away. I would like to change my oil here at home, but have never done it at home. My question is, what do you do with the oil that has drained out? Where do you take it?

When I drain the Mobil 1, there's usually not even 3 thousand miles on it, so I use it in my '76 Chevy P/U.
Otherwise, many parts stores will recycle it for you.

Default Oil Change

Advance Auto will take it. If you live in the north where it snows, etc., there are some garages that use old motor oil for their furnace.

Take it either to :

1. Your drain and dump it down.

2. The neighbor's dog-dish.

3. The neighbor's beer bottle.

4. The front yard!

Or - my personal favorite:

5. The road in front of your house to do some SWEET burnouts!!!

Seriously - ask at your local garage or autoparts store, and they will recycle it for ya!

I am almost certain that if an auto parts store sells it to you, they have to take back the waste oil.
