We all know that these Bose systems can suck. I have lost sound on the right door speaker system. Changed out amplifier and speakers on right side and still no go. All other speakers ( left and both rear ) and radio are working fine. Is this an amplifier relay problem ? Any help would be appreciated.
The Bose Amp. Relay supplies 12 volts to all of the speakers used by the amplifier. Since 3 speakers work, the Bose relay is working. You could still have a wiring problem.
With the radio on, at the connector going to the amp. box, with a volt meter you should measure 12 volts DC from the Pink/Black wire to the Black wire. That would confirm you're getting the proper voltage from the Bose Amp. Relay. If a Bose amp. has no audio signal input, you should still hear a faint hiss coming from the speaker.
If you have a scope you could look at the audio signal coming from the CDM/Receiver to the speaker amplifier box. For the Right side front speaker the audio input signal wire is Light Green.
The CDM/Receiver box is located under the Passenger side dash I think for (90-92). I know the CDM for 93's is located in the passenger side rear storage bin.
You drop the black plastic cover above the passenger side footwell. There about 5 harness plugs you need to disconnect. Once the plugs are disconnected, you'll see a black plastic tray which the CDM is mounted to.
You then disconnect 5 connector plugs at the CDM and also the antenna plug.
It's not an easy job.
A used CDM goes for $50 and up. To have yours repaired will run around $250.00.
Thanks for the reply and giving me a possible remedy. Very comprehensive and what I need. This is not one of the obvious easy fixes. I've got some work to do
Awesome website !!! Thanks for that. I am leaning toward the CDM. I have power to amp on right side but no signal.. I always learn something from forum members .
