Default Windshield Protector

Watching NASCAR, when they pit, there is a shield peeled off the windshield. Looks like there may be a half dozen of them on there for all pit stops.
What is this, and where can we get them. Looks like it would be excellent for expressway driving to protect it.

I have a quote request into the company that invented it.

Looks like around $130. I asked to see if they would give a discount?

Many race series use this product. For the race teams, its purpose is to eliminate the windshield washing process. Dont know if it has any scratch and dent preventative properties for the glass.
I use a plastic film on the front of my car to protect the paint during track use, but its not super clear like the windshield film and must be a different product.

I'd like to see this product for the ZR-1 if it can protect it from chips. Other then that I'm not really interested

It's not long term protection. You could try a 3M clear bra custom cut, but you would get some distortion.

A DuPont Mylar film cut and contour molded to fit the complex curve of each windshield, protects the windshield from stone chips, abrasions and pitting.

If you want Paint Chip Protection then order 8 mil film (3M Scotchgard Paint Protection film)

Here is another product:

Quick Peel dries to a clear, washable coating
After drying (about 30 minutes per coat, unaided) Quick Peel dries to a clear, undistorted protective coat. Decals and numbers show through, paint colors look bright and right. Wash a Quick Peel vehicle like any other - its protection holds up under detergents and hot water, and looks good when your done.

Just peel it off and throw it away
When you're ready to remove Quick Peel, pick an edge and start peeling. It will come off in large sheets or sections, leaving no residue. Quick Peel products are the convenient temporary coatings that go on easily and come off even easier.

Great for pit boxes and during transport
Protect your pit boxes with Clear Spray Peel. Not as agressive as Quick Peel, Clear Spray Peel Goes on milky white, dries clear, so you can read right through it. Protect your big investment off the track and on the road, too. Clear Spray Peel is excellent for vehicles during transport, in the shop, garage or storage. Clear Spray Peel is not intended for high speed use.

spraying Quick Peel on my car 8 months ago, I'm still waiting for it to let me down! It's still on the car, and after 2400 track miles, you would never know that my car had been on the track! The paint looks as good as new, even though it has been pounded by flying tire rubber at 150+ mph!" - Brian Smith

Dear Jim,

Thank you for the interest in our products. We currently do not have a ProShield Tearoff kit for the C4 Corvette or the ZR-1. We do have kits to fit the C5. ProShield tearoffs are designed for off-road use only, and are not DOT approved or recommended for street use. If you are using your ZR-1 primarily for track events, and can send a used windshield(pitted and/or slightly broken) to us to keep as a template, we can produce C4 specific kits for your needs. The tearoffs are heat-formed, and pre-cut to fit each application.

We would be able to do a “group purchase price” if we can get specified windshield(s) for the applications (if we currently do not have the year/model of car). Please let us know if we can further assist you.

Thank you,

Tim Krack

WE could send them a regular C4 windshield...the size/mold would be the same!
