Best thing to do is strip everything out, spray some brakekleen in there and mop up the old oil. Remove the breather box and replace the gasket. And then make sure the PCV tubes going to the injector housings are tight when you reassemble.

I'll do that part this weekend, will the breather box cause that much oil? The oil was changed 1500 miles ago and there is alot of fresh oil in the valley but I don't see a leak. I'm going to drill for the other drain hole but that is still alot of "drip", if its normal thats OK(it is "normal" on the shovelhead). I guess I'll clean it up and put it back together. Thanks

Default Oil

Locobob has a cool oil catch can mounted on the wheel well.
It routes/catches the oil away from the plenum valley.
Sounds like a good idea........

Just got my plenum back on today for the AC compressor change. Not that bad. Put on my stainless bolt while I had it off. Good thing my water ports bolts looked like ****!. Stainless all the way. Recommend it while your in there. Got mine and gaskets from ESS. Enjoy and good luck.

Definitely change the breather box gasket and also get some lock washers for the bolts (on the breather box)...using loctite is a good idea too...not the permanent stuff but the stuff for small bolts (Loctite Quickstix 248 or Loctite 242 (blue)). Pay close attention when drilling the new drain hole and catch all of the aluminum metal shavings!

how many miles on your car? new plug wires due?? now is the time...since the plenum is off..

Well, I got her done. Total time spendt was less 4hours and less than 200 total. Couldn't have done it without you guys. I would have taken it to the dealer for a little over 1000. I can't thank all of you that helped enough, you all make this a great place. Thanks again to everyone

Plus if you had taken it to the dealer it wouldn't have run right when you got it back.

Congrats on getting her back together, I'm going to try to tackle this same thing sometime this summer yet.
