I found a crack in my windshield last night, and am looking to have Safelite Autoglass replace it. According to them, they can order ZR-1 specific windshields with the blue-green tint. Has anyone replaced theirs with a windshield from Safelite? Does it look like the OEM ZR-1 windshields with the radar detector cutout?
these are not the correct windshields for the zr1, these are just standard c4 windshields. they told me the same thing and when i went to order one they said they were no longer available.

Is there really any advantage (other than originality) to having the ZR-1 specific windshield?
The solar shield that is designed into these windshields was put there to increase the reflectivity of the Suns rays. That was done to decrease the amount of solar energy entering the car, and therefor reducing interior heat. The ZR-1 has 2 less cubic inches of compressor capacity. I think ( not sure ) it is 12 cubes for a regular C4 and 10 cubes for the ZR-1... that was the reason for the solar tint... You see it in other cars and vans, like Pontiac's Transports with the large front windshield. On the Pontiac's I have never noticed any delamination like ours has... or, especially like mine has
Personally, I would rather have a regular windshield for a better high mount placement of the V1 without reducing sensitivity.
