Default DeWitts Sale on Griffin C4 Radiators

I read over in the C4 perf section about Griffin Alum Radiators for 440-480.

these are supposed to be direct replacements. Has anyone had experience with these folks and Griffin Radiators???

Sounds like a good deal but I haven't heard many talk about DeWitts or
Griffen. look similar in technology to Fluidyne and BeCool. 2 1.25 alum tubes

I do see lots of Griffen radiators at the track. Is the ZR1 radiator the same as the standard C4???

plz advise.

thx.

I have a Griffin 2-1/2" thick. this is a two row 1-1/4" each row. I had the B-Cool and had to return it. It blew up. Don't know if it was because the construction of it or the water flow on the Zr-1. The construction of the B-cool over the Griffin is a little different. B-cool uses some epoxy to mate the tubes to the tanks, and the way the tubes openings are terminated is also different.
I did pay for mine $600 directly from griffin a year or so ago....
IMO the Griffin is superior in craftmasnship

My Be-Cool radiator blew up too. They cannot handle the pressure from aftermarket ZR-1 t-stats.

yeap, I remember that when I had put my radiator i had rigged the thermo to stay open all the time plus I also drilled 6 1/8" holes around the lip for by-pass. This definetly affected the water flow/pressure thru the radiator at 7000 plus rpm's.....
They took it back with no questions asked for full credit!!

I bought a Griffin from DeWitts ealy this summer when one of my factory rad's tanks cracked. I got the rad within a couple of days, and the sale was very quick and easy (phoned with a credit card number).
The Griffin is excellent quality and basically a direct fit. I did have to remove the factory rubber rad mounts and trim the lower shroud a little to get mine to fit, but it was pretty quick.

You guys wouldn't happen to have a part # for the 2 core 1 1/4" each Griffin Radiator for the ZR-1.

I used the Griffin 2 core 1 1/4" each on my 383 camaro and saw my temps drop 20+ degrees.

TIA

To the best of my knowledge the ZR1 radiator is the same as the standard. The two row (not core) HP series is a 6590AF-BAX (90-96) or the 6584AF-BAX (84-89) I have a forum sale for $480. As I stated on the other thread, I don't believe this HP model is necessary and that the two row pro series (1") is all that's required $440. sxmph, for the record you had it backwards on the use of epoxy. It's Griffin that furnace welds the tubes and then epoxy reinforces them. Be-cool promotes against the use of epoxy. For those of you that don't know me, I have been making aluminum radiators for C2 for about 10 years. We became a master distributor for Griffin racing radiators to fit the gaps we don't make, IE C4. Great rads, good prices, two year warranty.

tom, thanks for the correction... I knew it had to do something with the epoxy...

Tom DeWitt: What is the weight difference between the Griffins and stock?

Thanks.

I never weighed them but I'm sure the Griffin is more. You have twice the amount of tubes and the end tanks are heavy gauge aluminum vs the stock plastic crip on end tanks. I'd estimate about double. td

I just bought an LPE/Ron Davis radiator for my car and am planning to install it next week. It's definitely a healthy looking unit.

Hi Clint and ZRoners
Tell me Clint, since I too have a Ron Davis radiator to install... where do I get the hoses with the threaded connections that make a clean, tight fit ? I am reffering to the braided hoses with pipe thread fittings that attach to the radiator... Does Samco make a kit specifically for this fitting arrangement ? I looked once at their site, but did not see a kit that I thought would work directly. I may just go to a hose shop and have them made up.
TIA
