I'm contemplating thowing headers on my stock '91. I've been trying to gather information on the increases a set of headers are goig to get me. I have been told numbers between 17hp and 30hp to the wheels. Who here as thrown headers on a stock LT-5, and what kind of increase have you seen? Any dyno information you can share?

I dynoed my car stock. I installed headers and still utilized the stock exhaust system. I dynoed the car again, a few months later and gained 20 rwhp. It was two different dyno’s but it’s probably fair to say that number is still accurate.
I went from 331.9 to 358.6 same dyno different day stk ex. on the dyno same time of day temp and humidity within 2%. added flowmaster exhaust went to 372.3
Send them to Jet Hot before you put them on. If I remember right, it was about 300 clams.
But let me tell you - 85* day. Drove to a buddies shop 25 miles away, flogging more than a little (I LOVE my shift light!)... drove right onto the lift. Not more than 5 mins later, the collectors were cool enough to touch. I don't care what anyone says. THAT tells me it was 300 clams well spent.
Try that with stock or uncoated headers. When you get feeling back or learn to use your prosthetic hands, let us know
Suffices to say it dramatically reduces temps. And we all know just how imprtant that is
Got mine installed last week and I have is the X pipe and flowmaster and dang did this car get really loud! Noticeable improvement in power as well.
I got the same set up you got Mike, Brian A's headers 3" x-pipe back to Flowmasters with no cats. The car is just wicked loud when you stand on it and it sure don't sound like no pushrod motor.
go with the headers, stainless works, are a perfect fit.
also, add, corsa exhaust. the headers will give
you approx. 20 h.p. add another 7 or 8 with
the catback. you 'll be happy.

What's up, Keith? How have you been? Coming to Vegas this year?
Thanks for the recommendation on the headers. I already have another exhaust on and it sounds wicked mean. I'm just not sure I want to go through the hassle of throwing headers on.
constantine: I hope to get to vegas, but wifey has a new
job, so we'll see. Personally, the headers, with the seat in
the pants acceleration difference is worth it, IMHO.
chip, headers, exhaust, and gears, and your baby will run
like a stripped *** ape. It really wakes the car up, and can
be taken back to stock, for the purist, quite easily.
Say hello, to your wifey, for Terri and I, and we hope to make
it to viva las vegas Two.
