ZF parts
Well my tranny suddenly went south on me unfortunately. Anyone know where I can buy parts for it without having to buy everything? Last time I spoke to Rockland Standard Gear they wanted more for a set of Syncros then the cost of a new tranny which is why I bought one to begin with. Right now the tranny is stuck in reverse and will not disengage from reverse at all. Clutch still works fine and the shifter moves out of reverse but the tranny itself is locked in reverse and does not disengage. I checked the shifter and it's fine so will have to open the tranny now to verify the problem exactly.

Same thing that happened to my ZF. Out in the middle of the desert.
I could back the car up onto a trailer to haul it home, then had to remove the drive shaft to get it off the trailer and into my garage. Thought I had run out of oil and fried the trans, but it was full.
Bill Boudreau was great help at ZFdoc. Said some design flaw that starves an area of oil allows the forward gears to sieze on the main shaft. (?) Reverse is not affected. I got a new ZF from Bill, spiffed up and short shifter. Not cheap, but smooth and I love it.
Good luck,
Ted
PS To answer your question, Bill @ http://www.zfdoc.com/
and I believe Marc Haibeck also services/supplies ZF trans: http://www.zr1specialist.com/

Thanks for the responses Guys. I'm in Toronto so shipping the tranny to Bill may not be a feasible option from a cost standppoint although I hear is is "the guy".
Jeff, my tech has got the tranny case cracked open but have not started the dissasembly yet. I'll keep you posted. Next question is would any parts from a 90-91 tranny work on a 95 tranny? I know the 90 -91's have the straight cut gears I believe but anything else? I have a my original 90 tranny is why I ask which I may possibly be able to use for parts.

OK so it looks like the reverse synchronzier gear is welded to the main shaft. I guess we have nobody qualified here in Toronto willing to touch it. I'd like to send it to Bill B, but it doesen't make financial sense to ship from Toronto.

Well then ship it to Marc Haibeck...

Just wanted to say a really big THANKS to Danny for helping me out. Drove out Thursday night and picked up the tranny Friday as I drove through the night. Danny even had a buddy drive it a couple hours closer to me which saved me a lot of driving. Will get the tranny installed in a couple days and the Z operational once again. Thanks to all who offered assistance with looking up parts etc (Dave! ) This forum rocks. I appreciate your help Danny. Carlisle here I come.
