Best X-Pipe
I am considering replacing my Borla resonator with an X-Pipe. I am currently running Watsons, no cats, Borla Exhaust(2.75). Any thoughts on performance? Anyone running something like this that can comment on sound?

No Dyno yet, the place I had do my exhaust work on my 90 L98(Twisted Pipes) might have a dyno day in late August. Thought about doing one without and with an X-Pipe.

There was a thread about a year ago in which a guy had a Haibeck 500 package done. The package made less than advertised hp. Marc came to the conclusion that the Borla exhaust was the problem. He switched to a Corsa and the car then made 5 more than advertised. I don't remember the exact difference but, it was substantial. (Around 30 hp.) So you may be better off ditching the Borla altogether but, that's for your ears to decide.
Edit: I found the post. it was 24@the wheels.

I've heard that about Borla before, but I also have an article from Corvette Fever in which they stated that that Borla made within 3 HP of no exhaust at all. Of course, maybe no exhaust causes a back pressure or fuel map issue that caused it to lose power, but I am no tuning expert.

Get an X that has gentle bends (more like 2 "45's)that join in the middle, not one where the pipes look like they literally collide-well, like an "X". Personally other than a slight change in pitch I think the whole X vs H vs nothing is overated.
There may be something very slight to be gained but not enough to spend real money over.

PN#12599 or 12469, may wanna double check. Looks like it would do the job though .
My notes (old) say 28" tip to tip and 22" case end to case end.

its a muffler , but isnt a reasonator a muffler too . i had to make 2 dimples in the case just like flowmaster did to theirs/. plus its 3in inside even if you want tostay with 21/2 in pipe. all i know is my exhaust changes worked. i took the car to a friends dyno . ran it with the stk flowmaster system then put on the new system within an hr and neted 26 more rwhp to 431.3 Mods are ported inj housings and plenum headers and coreys tune. plus its quiet which gives her the sleeper mode i like hope this helps.car ran 11 78@ 119.62 with a 1.78 60 ft on mt etstreet radials oh yeah 410 gears . these tires put the bfgs to shame. @ famoso inbakersfield in 85degree weather

If you want to read different opinions on exhaust systems for your ZR-1, take a look at this thread.

Le Mans Master
the b&b x pipe is good, but they don't sell separate
stainless works is another
the technology works and provides a bit more mid range and balances the exh better for each cyl pulse. not a big change, but noticeable
the resonator represents quite a bit of restriction as the pipe usually neck down.

The Flowmaster system can be had new for a little over 500.00. Sounds great and no resonance. It also looks similar to stock. (D-shaped tips instead of square) If thats what your after.
