Default Bilstein Paint Code

While attending the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, KY this past weekend, I had a pretty lengthy conversation with the Bilstein Representative about ZR-1 shocks, turnaround time, cost, etc. He seemed genuinely interested in my input and stated if I would email him on Monday, he would get me the paint code. I also asked if a group discount was possible.

I followed his instructions with an email detailing what I wanted yesterday. I must admit that I didn't really expect a response, as this gentleman was involved in the street rod aspect of Bilsteins business, but I'm very impressed to have received the following information:

Brian,

The actual paint brand and code that we used to refurbish shock tubes is Ellis Paint Company's yellow #217. However, I could not locate any
on-line information regarding availability.

Better chance of acquiring Krylon's #1816 John Deere Yellow. Second
choices are Krylon yellows #1806 or #5818.

Thanks Mike

So there it is, the actual paint code for Bilstein Yellow. I have not researched it online yet, but wanted to get the information on this forum as soon as I could. Mike also said that he is going to check on a group discount and will let me know. I will pass on the info as I receive it!

Good for getting the original code, I had a hard time getting it. FOund someone who could match them up ( http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...9&postcount=61 )but didnt have the time...Just rattle canned them yellow (a little brighter), put the decals on (from Bilstein) and called it a day. Its not correct but I think it looks better than the orangey-yellow they originally were.

The trick is to get them on without greasing them up and getting scratches and fingerprints embedded in them
Cant say I really succeeded with that but still night and day improvement.

All:

Just received news from Ellis Paint Company. They will sell Yellow #217 in spray cans, for $6.50 each. They did ask that I purchase two cans, which I agreed to do. Anyone else interested can contact Ellis Paint Company at the following number:
