Default Bought another ZR-1!!

Well I could not resit a decent deal. Over the weekend I bought a 94, 38K miles, white with black. Needs a little TLC but over all not bad. Paid 19K for it and I am the third owner.I have a 91 already.

I do have a couple of questions though.

The kid I bought it from only had it for a short time and the information is scetchy at best.He is looking for the original owners phone number and maybe I can get more info.

1. Full power mode is on all the time even without the power light on.I was told that the computer was modified. Any thoughts.

2.The car seems very powerful, almost as if it was ported or something. Can just computer and cat back make that much differance? The plenum and valve covers have been painted the wrong color, although a very good job. Maybe others mods have been done.

3.Anyone want to trade a brand new B&B system for stock, to loud for me!!

Congrats.. Sounds like a nice deal. And yes, the chip can be programmed to default the key on.

1. Yep very easy to do my PROM was reburned from DRM and the full power is always on on my 91

2. Yes if he or the previous owner took the time to get the top end powdercoated he probably had the top end ported as well dont forget your Z is rated over 400 hp from the factory without mods. He prob has a performamance PROM and the B&Bs can add another 5 to 7hp. Without headers your prob at 420/425hp.

3. Your on your own lol if you can get a set of CORSA powerp ulses your will be much happier.

Enjoy the ride

Wow, congrats on the great deal.
Doesn't sound like anything really wrong with it.

Nice score

You can either have it tuned in the prom, or there was a bypass switch that was sold as well.

2.The car seems very powerful, almost as if it was ported or something. Can just computer and cat back make that much differance? The plenum and valve covers have been painted the wrong color, although a very good job. Maybe others mods have been done.
Each of these cars is vastly different. It could be something as simple as the timing was done a bit better at the factory on the 94 car. Throw up some pictures of the engine. You won't know anything has been done until you pull the plenum.

3.Anyone want to trade a brand new B&B system for stock, to loud for me!!
I've got a stock exhaust sitting up here waiting to go on somebodys car. Shoot me a note.

How can you tell when you pull the plenum if it's been ported? I've got mine off now and would like to know if something has been done to it.

AWWWW MAN! Congratulations on the latest purchase. I would gladly trade the wife's C6 for another Z... Too bad it's hers!

Enjoy the latest ZR-1!

On the plenum, look for any casting marks. Should see some small peaks that are in a stright line in the runner. Should be somewhat rough.

Whats weird is on my 91 the green power light stays on all the time after changing the chip. On this 94 it has full power but the green light is not on unless I turn the power key on?
