Default 1992 Widow Maker ZR-1 on Ebay

Does anyone know the story behind this ZR-1 on Ebay? The whole listing seems a little off to me but I don't know the entire history of the DRM cars. What is it worth with a blown engine?

Yea a little off is correct. If I'm selling something that might be 1 of 1 and I have paper work but you don't take pictures of it? Wouldn't you take pictures of the engine, interior, etc. This sounds like a fire sale after he received a quote to fix it maybe.

NO ONE with that kind of money wrapped up in a car would sell it blindly w/o doing a little homework.

I get the feeling the seller is being less than honest. Hell isn't DRM up in Minnesota?

Why no pictures of anything besides the exterior?

Seems like something came up about "widow makers" year or so ago.

Great write up.

This quote from the other thread pretty much sums it up

With all due to A1990, if DRM says they never built a car with that name I'll go with what they say

I believe that is what Mr. Ballard called it, not DRM.

Be nice to see this

"Sorry to say you are wrong. I have the original paperwork with verified signiture. This is #001 Widow Maker, not the normal DRM 600 Black Widow"

Curious: spending a small fortune to get this much power and not upgrade the brakes and suspension seems a bit....foolish? Deadly?

After I posted that comment. The owner that lives just north of us came down with a file of paper work. This was going to become a package, but never took off. Vaughn did the sales deal and Doug did sign paperwork with the term widow maker in his build sheet.

Sorry for the correction

Maybe it is but is doesn't seem to be taken seriously as one, only bid up to 12.5k, engine unknown may be the problem. If that was fixed and it could be proven as a one off could be a great buy but who knows as far as real value or rarity.

Yeah...the engine alone should be worth far more than that.

Has anyone got a clue as to what's wrong with it?

This car is back on Ebay with a Buy it Now of $17,500. Back in October it had a Buy it Now of $25,000 and bidding only got to $12,500.

Makes you wonder what this car is really worth??????

Still no pictures of the engine or any documentation on the upgrades.

Slight change in engine description

1st time on Ebay: Missed a shift and is now not running. Not blown, stopped running.

Now on Ebay: Currently the engine is not running. Believe to have a valve related problem.

Wonder how he came up with that info?

I actually had an interest in the car and contacted the owner. He sent pics of the motor and on the left side cam cover there was a pertrusion right where the corvette circle emblem resides, something came through the LH cam cover and caused a crack in it. My guess is the cam broke or something exploded and drove it partially through the cam cover. Without tearing it down, I suspect the motor granaded and did some catastrophic damage. Even if only the cam broke, there sure would be plenty of piston/valve contact going on.

Looks like a nice car but what is a non running car worth?

Paperwork for the motor really means nothing if the motor is toast unless you want to sink a small/large fortune into it and have DRM redo it
