After you've had the book for 30 days you will be sent a quiz and will be expected to know all the differences between the 90-92 and the 93-95 LT5 engines. Hint: The two bonus questions are What year did Dave McLellan retire and How can you tell the difference between the Birmal and Dunn heads on a '95. If you flunk the test you have to send the book back.

Differences in 90-92 and 93-95:
30HP, 15 ft lbs
4 bolt main
Differerent supplier for cylinder case
shorter valve length
Geez too many more to list!
What year did Dave McLellan Retire?
Dave left the as head of Corvette Engineering in 1992
How can you tell the difference between Birmal and Dunn heads?
A.L. Dunn foundry took over head tooling in 92, but the only it changes it mentioned were "quality problems" that Dunn resolved.
What do you think?
By the way, the book has almost changed my mind about what my next Vette will be. I didn't realize that the ZR-1 had so much heart and soul in the program! What a great story!

the engineers that build the LT5 and the ZR1 had a personal committment often lacking. pretty inspirational stuff. they took alot of pride in making the ZR1 a world class car that could compete with the world.
I think they achieved that goal admirably. everyone still compares 02 cars to the 90 ZR1. shows just how much ahead of it's time the ZR1 was.
many of the key technologies used today in manufacturing of complex alum engines with liners were used back then in manufacturing the LT5.
the Mercury Marine folks were very proud and considered it a special priviledge to work on the LT5.
good book, I wish there were more stories about the ZR1. Looking forward to Dave M.'s book, anyone know when it will be available???
