i guess cheaper than most are willing to let them go for ,i he waits long enough might find a set for 500, but most of the used headers i have seen for sale go for the 700 range .just not a hole lot of spare sets out there . corey henderson is doing a jeal header(he bought the jeal jiggs) with a merge collector but its not cheap and he only does 2-3 sets at a time .
I paid $1200 for my original jet coated Jeals. What are you you looking to spend?
Not for me,the OP.I pointed him in the direction of a set and hes still asking. The set I know of came off the Steel Blue 1991 auto with the Shinoda body kit. These dont come around too often,If somebody found me a set Id be all over that.

Concur Jeff I was asking the OP what he thought a fair price was. Agreeing with you And yes they dont come around very often is correct. Which is why I jumped on my Jeals.

When I get back to work I want to do a complete system. The only problem is finding a place to stash the stock exhaust. If I had the cash I would have bought a set that was part of the group buy last summer. Now,are headers for an LT5 legal in Ca?I know the performance parts sold on smog legal cars go through a lengthy process to get a CARB number.I dont think at such a small number of sets produced they are legal.I would be just as happy with a Corsa cat back setup
If you find any sets that are out of your $ range, pass the info along to me, I'm looking for a set as well, seen sets for a grand but I can buy new for that.
Might be time to talk to Corey to see if he can do me up a set...
Anybody happen to know who got the jig from Watson when they stopped producing them?
I know the early Watsons were prone to leakage from a shakey welder they were using, later sets were absolutely georgous!
I had a set of the smaller version Watsons on my previous 91 and the car really liked them, with a 4:10 gear, drag radials and a B&B, I was going 12.00's with a 5 @ 118 MPH on a bone stock motor without any port work on factory injectors and original clutch, never had any breakage and I know there was more left in the car but I didn't push.
After I had the Watsons jet-hot coated, they were almost too nice to install, chopped off 3 tenths off my ET with just the header install.
I've heard different stories that the Jeals didn't flow as well as others on dyno testing, can't see why not since anything had to be an improvement over the stock header-cats...

Not to give you bad news but there is not a set of long tube headers made that is legal in Calif. Shorty's with a CARB # are good to go but nothing else. You still coud put a set of headers on and try to blow it by smog. Our cars really hide the headers due to the configuration but you are taking a chance on the visual....
you can get the headers ca smog , just do as i did saying my cats failed and gm doesnt sell replacements . had to go to the ref . but it was a 10 minute deal .my car sniffed clean which is their first concern

I guess that will work for the early Z's with the cats as a part of the manifold. However, like my 94, the cats are separate and are R&R'ed as stand alone units.
CBSZR1,

I had the same results with small tube Watson's. Went from 12.95 to 12.53. I kept them when I sold #458 and just installed them on #473.

The small tube Watsons seemed to work well on a stock cube motor.
I think the strokers prospered from the bigger tube design. I had heard some who went with the bigger tube on stock displacement ZR-1's were not as happy with the results, lost a little bottom end, makes sense..
Does anybody know if Watson ever sold off the jigs when they stopped producing headers?
